Lesson 3: An April Day
Solutions for the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow from the WBBSE Class 8 English textbook, 'Blossom'.
Let's Read (Textbook Pages 25-26)
When the warm sun, that brings
Seed-time and harvest, has returned again,
'T is sweet to visit the still wood, where springs
The first flower of the plain.
I love the season well,
When forest glades are teeming with bright forms,
Nor dark and many-folded clouds foretell
The coming-on of storms.
From the earth's loosened mould
The sapling draws its sustenance, and thrives
Though stricken to the heart with winter's cold,
The drooping tree revives.
The softly-warbled song
Comes from the pleasant woods, and coloured wings
Glance quick in the bright sun, that moves along
The forest openings.
When the bright sunset fills
The silver woods with light, the green slope throws
Its shadows in the hollows of the hill,
And wide the upland glows.

চারাগাছ তার পুষ্টি গ্রহণ করে ও বেড়ে ওঠে;

Spring's Arrival
When spring arrives after the long, cold winter, nature undergoes a magical transformation. The bare trees begin to sprout new, green leaves, and colourful flowers like tulips and daffodils start to bloom everywhere, painting the landscape with bright hues. The air, once chilly, becomes warm and pleasant. Birds, which were silent during winter, start singing their cheerful songs again. Rivers and streams, once frozen, flow freely. It feels as if the entire world is waking up from a long sleep, full of new life and energy.
Activity 8(b): Write a diary entry
You have a separate routine of work in the morning and in the evening. Write a page in your diary on that part of the day which you prefer more.
My Diary
5th October 2025, 9 PM
Dear Diary,
Today was another busy day, but I found myself enjoying the evening much more than the morning. Mornings are always a rush—waking up early, getting ready for school, and finishing homework. But the evenings are my own. I love the calm that settles after sunset. I get to play with my friends, read my favourite storybooks, and spend quality time with my family. The cool breeze and the quiet atmosphere feel so relaxing after a hectic day. Evenings truly feel like a gift, a peaceful end to a busy day.
