Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay

Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay, a renowned Bengali writer, was born on 12th September 1894. His father was Mahananda Bandyopadhyay and his mother was Mrinalini Devi. He completed his early education at Bangaon High School and later graduated from Ripon College (now Surendranath College) in Kolkata. He served as a Headmaster at Jangipara High School and Harinavi Anglo-Sanskrit Institution. His literary genius is evident in timeless novels like 'Pather Panchali', 'Aparajito', 'Aranyak', and 'Chander Pahar'. This great author passed away on 1st November, 1950, leaving behind a rich legacy.
