Two Friends and a Bear

Once, two friends were passing through a dense forest. Suddenly, they saw a large bear coming towards them. Out of fear, one friend quickly climbed up a tall tree, leaving his friend behind. The other friend did not know how to climb a tree. Finding himself helpless, he immediately lay down flat on the ground and held his breath, pretending to be a dead man. The bear came near him, sniffed his face and ears, and thought he was dead. Since bears do not eat dead bodies, it slowly walked away. The friend on the tree climbed down and asked what the bear whispered in his ear. The other replied, "The bear advised me not to trust a false friend."

Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.

A few weeks ago, I participated in an inter-school essay competition. Yesterday was the day the results were going to be announced online. I was eagerly waiting for this good news. While waiting, I felt extremely nervous and restless. I kept refreshing the website again and again and paced around my room. Every minute felt like an hour. Finally, at 4 PM, the results were published, and the news had come! To my absolute delight, I saw my name at the top of the list—I had won the first prize. My heart was filled with boundless joy and I immediately ran to share this wonderful news with my parents.

Clouds (Class 8 English) - FAQs

The boy was disappointed because the grass-cutter looked amazed and mystified by the peculiar question. He could not give the boy any satisfactory answer about where the clouds had gone.

The mother reacted with surprise and irritation. She asked if he had lost his mind and told him to quickly wash up, eat his breakfast, and go to school instead of asking silly questions.

While the boy wandered far away in the fierce heat and dust searching for the clouds, the clouds came to his village, shed heavy rain, and completely washed everything clean before going away.

Standing under the freshly washed jamun tree, the boy felt a deep sense of happiness and peace. He let the clear drops of water fall on his head and face, enjoying the freshness brought by the rain.
