Station Road, Memari,

Purba Bardhaman.

Dear Akash,

Hope you are keeping well. I am writing this letter to share my thrilling experience of visiting the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary last weekend with my parents.

We stayed in a lovely forest lodge and took an exciting elephant safari early in the morning. As we moved deep into the dense, green forest, we spotted herds of deer, beautiful peacocks, and various colourful birds. The most breathtaking moment was when we saw a majestic Indian one-horned rhinoceros grazing peacefully near a stream. It felt amazing to observe wild animals freely roaming in their natural habitat rather than being caged in a zoo.

I wish you were there with me. Convey my regards to your parents.

Your loving friend,

Rohan

A Day in the Zoo (Class 9 English) - FAQs

Visiting a zoo as an ordinary member of the public is just a temporary experience. However, owning a zoo and living inside it means you are on duty twenty-four hours a day, and you have the ability to rush out at any time to observe the animals.

The average zoo day begins just before dawn when the sky is slightly yellow. One is awakened by the beautiful birdsongs of robins, touracos, blackbirds, and white-headed thrushes.

When the apes are let out of their cages for cleaning, they gallop about the floor with great excitement. They mischievously try to wrench the electric heaters from their sockets or break the fluorescent lights.

The story is an extract from the book 'Menagerie Manor', written by Gerald Durrell. He was a famous English zookeeper, conservationist, and author who founded his own zoo on the Channel Island of Jersey.
